FRANKIE'S STORY ASK SARH AULD MOTHER. TEACHER. MARATHON RUNNER. CRAFT MAKER. 5 THINGS THAT ARE MAKING THE DIFFERENCE RIGHT NOW
STRUCTURE AND ROUTINE
Without I fall apart. As in, anxiety attack and tears fall apart. Our family needs it, from snack times and lunch to the same bath and bedtime routines. Whilst homeschooling I've tried to keep the routine as close to school as possible (detention anyone?!) as Gus (Sarah's son) thrives on no surprises.
Honesty
Gus has questions that we can't answer, like when can we go to the park again, or see my friends? Or will you ever bother brushing my hair again ?! We try to be as honest as possible. He knows there's a virus and by not doing these things we are keeping ourselves and the wider community safe. Also, he's a total superstar hand washer.
Community
We are so lucky to be apart of ours. From neighbours yelling out from across the street, to a drink from the front door at 5pm on a Sunday night and our local milkbar offering pasta from home - we are so fortunate. The support of small businesses within our local are is ace too. We hate to see any of the local businesses have to close up, so banding together with support right now is so important.
Weather
SO bloody thankful for this decent weather. Light, fresh air and having windows and doors open really helps when stuck at home. It helps to air my eucalyptus soaked floors too which I'm sure you can smell from across the street.
Toilet Paper
We finally got some this week. I really thought I was above buying any, until there was none left. Anywhere. A few mates all gave us a couple of rolls, but I was beginning to get worried.
Song
The Teeny Tiny Stevies 'Friendly, Gentle, Sharing Courageous' is one that comes to mind. It's all the good stuff we need to be and do at the moment.
TV
Seinfeld reruns, because why would you ever watch anything else?
Comedians in Cars Drinking Coffee on my brothers Netflix account (I hope that's not illegal?!) because if watching Jerry doesn't get us through this, nothing will xxxx
